LichtwarkTheater Theatre for everyone
Opening a theatre in 2023 sounds almost daring and reckless today. But the new stage in the KörberHaus has its roots in the long-established »Lichtwark Bergedorf Theatre Haus im Park«, which has been an integral part of Hamburg's cultural scene for almost 50 years. The theatre is named after Alfred Lichtwark (1852 – 1914), the former director of the Hamburger Kunsthalle, who campaigned for equal opportunities in cultural education. This idea also characterises the KörberHaus as a cultural centre that celebrates the openness and diversity of a cosmopolitan society and promotes inclusive interaction between all people.

Corporate design
Inspired by the three-dimensional slats of the KörberHaus façade, the logo and corporate identity of the LichtwarkTheatre are characterised by views and perspectives. The play with the irregular "shapes" conveys a transparent connection between inside and outside, offers views of the stage, arouses curiosity and reduces fears.
Celebrating diversity
The programmes at the LichtwarkTheater are run by the Körber-Stiftung and the Bergedorf district authority and contribute to the diversity of culture and events at the KörberHaus.
From professional theatre, drama, comedy, cabaret and musicals, school performances and music and theatre competitions for young people to informative formats – the modern theatre hall provides the stage for Bergedorf's diverse cultural life. In addition to the professional theatre programme, StudioLichtwark will enable district cultural projects to take place here in future. The modern theatre with 458 seats offers a varied programme for all generations and cultures.
